My name is Ali (pronounced like “alley”) and I live in Hawai’i. This is my personal blog that was originally started in March of 2001. After a four year absence, I’ve decided to start it up again in 2008.
I’m interested in just about everything and, in particular, gardening, food, environmental issues, alternative energy, subsistence, peace, yoga, dance, feng shui and self improvement.
Personal Goals
My personal goals are modest.
- Wake up earlier. Basically, I’m a “night person.” There aren’t enough productive hours in my “night person” day to do everything I want to do. Well, that and I need more energy and focus, which leads right in to the next goal.
- Run a 5K. I’m starting out walking and building up to running. I actually enjoy being more physically active. I have a couch potato reputation that I plan to change. I’m not trying to lose weight. I just want to get more exercise and have more energy. Gaining a few pounds in muscle mass would be okay, too.
- Eco-consciousness. Buy carefully, go green, use less, re-purpose, recycle, conserve. Keep the Earth cool!

February 20, 2008 I’m using Joe’s Goals to track my current goals of waking up at 6:00 a.m. and doing a light belly dancing workout with Shimmy. I’m doing Shimmy as a form of light, fun exercise. I’m having an easier time doing Shimmy than waking up but that’s no surprise, is it?
April 1, 2008 Added the goal of walking to Joe’s Goals. Started walking in the morning and, again, in the afternoon. Exercise definitely helps me to wake up in the morning. I think it may also alleviate insomnia.

April 1, 2008 We’re having another grandbaby in November! He/she will be my oldest daughter’s second child. I think “Zeta” is a girl. It’s been quite a while since we’ve had a baby in the house. Lots of babyproofing to do but we’ve got time. My daughter is doing well, no morning sickness. Yay for her!

April 2, 2008 And here she/he is! This was taken at about 10 weeks. Ultrasound technology sure has improved since my childbearing days. Not that those days are ancient history or anything. What a difference a decade makes.
