A warm smile, no anger, no sarcasm--heard he had the New Hope members give bottles of ice water to the "protestors" so they wouldn't get heat stroke. :) The "protestors" probably didn't know how to react. When I realized what it was, I returned their hate by sending them an email message with my own opinion for which I got an almost immediate and personal response -- it stopped there. I very much like your response -- there is no hate. I am grateful that I have come to understand as you do -- that the power source for such an organization is more in the minds of those against them than those that support them. I believe that hating them in return, even privately, lends them energy that I could expend on something positive.
