American Idol?

April 9th, 2008 by ali

I haven’t watched American Idol since Fantasia was on in Season 3!  Got this clip of Jason Castro performing the Israel Kamakawiwo`ole version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” via Neenz via Twitter.  I think he did a good job!  Probably won the hearts of many Hawai`i viewers.  Since when do they let the contestants play ukulele?

I think this year is when they started letting them play instrements. It is a good thing when they have talent. when they don’t … well you know.

Nice to see you my dear. I have missed you!

Hi Jenn a.k.a. the Incredible Shrinking Woman!

Missed you, too! So you’re training for the Lavaman race?! Wow! You are my inspiration! I’m just aiming to run/jog/walk a 5K and huffing and puffing along.

The Lavaman is my 5 year goal. I want to be there in 2013. I am working on all the small ones right now. you gonna train with me and give it a try too?

I love Israel’s version of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, which is one of my favorite songs to play on piano.

I also thought Jason Castro paid a good homage to Israel’s version, and it’s good they’re letting the singers use instruments too.

@Ladybug At this point, I can’t imagine a triathalon! I don’t swim very well. Sink pretty good, though! LOL! I look forward to cheering you on!

@randomguru I was really impressed. His ukelele playing was good, too. I’ve always loved the song and when “Meet Joe Black” came out, I loved it even more. “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” opened the world to Israel’s talent.

sometimes, i will catch the show, but i haven’t followed it with any regularity, especially since i have no crushes on the current show ;) i’m very shallow.

@no milk I wouldn’t call that shallow. I’d call it smart–why waste time if there’s nothing interesting enough to watch? So spill it. Enquiring minds want to know. Who did you crush on in past seasons?
